Sponsored Walk

Our annual sponsored walk this year will take place on Sunday 11th September 2011, after the morning service, and will be on our usual route from the church to the end of the promenade at Stevenston and back.

Last year, 25 people ranging in age from 6 to 80+, two dogs and a wheelchair took part. We could not have had a better night weatherwise as it was warm, but not hot and very pleasant for a brisk walk or a stroll.

Some of the young ones had a go on the swings on the way but the big ones refrained. This year we had no mishaps as Christine didn't have a scooter and could see where she was going, Betty was chaperoned by John and couldn't walk into a pillar box and Pauline managed magnificently on her wedge heels.

Thanks are due to Duncan for stewarding and emergency lifts and to Jean, who nipped into Iceland and bought us all ice lollies. When we returned to the church hall a lovely supper awaited us which was enjoyed by all. This was a nice social evening, as well as a fundraiser, as people got to know people they knew but had not had conversation with until that night.
